I should have started this blog a long long time ago. I've been crafting since 4 years old but my addiction to crafting only escalated in the last decade.
I remember at 4 years old, my parents bought me a Barbie doll. I didn't like playing with it. I actually go for books more than dolls to be honest. But I had something in mind for it, it wasn't enough that I had a doll, if I were to play with the Barbie doll properly... it needs a house and a furniture.
I asked my uncle for scrap plywood, the thin ones. And I made myself a tiny dollhouse with a tiny bed. And the bed with pillows and a bedsheet. Of course it wasn't that good, no paint, no windows, just basically a box that has the basic shape of a house. I used glue and rubber bands and tape to keep it together. Very shabby. I wish we had taken a picture of it back then.
Then in high school, I was more creative, I made tons of DIY school projects. Like the time I had to make a cabinet with glass "doors" to house our collection of rocks (metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks) for our Earth Science project. I used nails this time and painted it TARDIS blue, although I didn't know it was TARDIS blue at that time. And the glass "doors" had a chip on in because I wasn't careful enough.
There was also a time that I created a miniature version of our house made out of illustration boards. That was a really cool project cause it turned out nice. I used lamination sheets for the windows, individually cut and glued the tiles for the bathroom. Good thing the project only required the house and not the furnitures or I would have had a hard time trying to curve the illustration board. If it required furnitures, I would have taken wood carving a long time ago.
But my true love is paper. I love paper, crazy about it really. I visit warehouses, garage sales just to get paper. I have a cabinet full of paper and my clothes are on top of a side table, unorganized. My paper is organized by size and color. I have megaboxes filled with finished origami flowers, and I folded my first 1000 cranes and decided to make it 2000.
I am so paper-crazy, my brother gave me paper for Christmas. My officemates gave me paper for Christmas!
Then there is the loomband craze, it is still crafting. So I delved into that, I didn't like it that much. But I still have thousands of bands I need to use. I will be posting some pics on my later posts for that. No videos as I'm not into instructional videos.
While doing the loombands, I realized this is this generation's crochet and knitting. And I didn't know how to knit or crochet. I went to National Bookstore and bought 3 balls of yarns. I just finished my first crochet project, a beanie!
I love crafting, it has become an addiction to me. I think this long article should give you an idea how diverse my interests in crafting are. I am hoping and planning on posting lots of pictures of my creations as well as give some guides on where to buy materials.
It is sad that DIY and crafting is picking up steam lately but there are very few stores available in the Philippines. So I'm hoping to share my finds and future finds with this blog, so that starting crafters can have a bit of guide to enable their emerging crafting addiction.
Until the next post! (Maybe later when I get home, unless I fall asleep then that would be tomorrow night).
